1 Chronicles 16:11

“Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face always.”

There is a difference between seeking and looking for something.

We can look at our phones because it’s convenient and attainable. We never lose track of it because odds are, it’s right next to you. You don’t need it all the time, but when you do, all you have to do is look for it.

Now, let’s say there is an emergency and you need your phone to call 911, but you misplace it. You search and seek everywhere. You seek for your phone as if your life depends on it. At this moment, it does.

Are you looking for God are you earnestly seeking God as if your life depends on it?

We can look to God when there is something wrong in our lives. We can look to Him when we have a prayer request. We look to Him for what He can do for you.

Or you can seek Him. You can seek Him because He is your greatest desire in life. You can seek Him for His Presence to be evident in and throughout your life. You can seek Him because you know exactly who He is.

My prayer has changed a lot recently. There have been times when I would just pray that God would fix something in my life or answer a prayer I have been praying. I wasn’t seeking Him for who He is, but looking at Him because I knew what He could do.

When we look we don’t get the fulfillment of who God is and what He can do through you. He is so much more than your emergency contact or even the One you go to when you need something “fixed.” When you seek, you realize He gives life, meaning, a purpose, and a reason. He is joy, He is freedom, He is the One above all and forgives all.

This week, I encourage you to seek Him! When you do, you’ll never look at Him the same.
